Annual Competitions

Hoylake Photographic Society's seasonal program of competitions, talks, and events is running to a close and they finish with the "Annual Digital Projected Images" competition and the "Annual Print" competition.

This Friday, 17th April is the judging of the "Digital Projected Images" competition. This year our guest judge is Phil Chadwick, AFIAP, DPAGB, BPE3* As you may guess from the honours following Phil's name, he's a very experienced photographer and he'll be running his critical eye over the best digital images that club members have produced over the season.

The annual competition is a re-run of our six monthly competitions that were held from September 2014 and it always turns the monthly results on their heads. All club members who feel they were hard done by in the judging of the monthly competitions will have a second chance of success or confirmation from a second judge that their images weren't very good in the first place. Stay resolute fellow members, there's always the Summer to capture better images for next season.

The judging takes place at Newton Village Hall, Grange Cross Lane, West Kirby with the doors opening at 7.30 pm for a 7.45 pm start and a 10 pm finish. Visitors are welcome to take a look at the club with an interest in joining in the new season which starts in September 2015.

The "Annual Print" competition takes place on Saturday, 18th April at Newton Village Hall and will be judged by Mark Power, CPAGB, BPE3* This will be a live judging event and Mark will be discarding prints on the fly along with the dreams of the viewing members. If you've not experienced this competition before it's tense and a lot of fun. Members need to turn up at 9 am and the judging goes on until midday.
