Judging 6th Hoylake International Exhibition 2017

Hoylake Photographic Society's "Hoylake International Exhibition 2017" is an international photographic competition attracting several thousand entries from hundreds of photographers from across the World and the judging took place over the weekend of 6th / 7th May at Newton Village Hall.

The Competition Judges
With so many entries into the competition nine guest judges used three projectors and laptops in three rooms of Newton Village Hall over the weekend to sift through the wildly different photographs in the Open Colour, Open Mono, Landscape, Nature, Photojournalism and Photo Travel categories to arrive at their award winners.

An event of this size takes an awful lot of organisation and Exhibition Chairman Brian Magor had the help of his wife Diana and many of the club members over the weekend and special thanks must go to Alison Quatermass for feeding the army of volunteers. The food provided was superb and Lyn Rostron's speciality desert apple and blackcurrent crumble also received special praise.

The standard of acceptance into the exhibition was pretty high on the day with the judges being tough on the marking so any club member who found their images accepted and in the awards can feel proud of their achievements. Below is the list of our club members accepted images and their awards. When people are given any awards, the software upgrades the marks automatically to 15 so this may not be the mark the judges originally gave. Well done everyone.

To round off a good weekend for the club our President Anthony Clarke awarded the judges with a plaque in thanks for their efforts but the biggest thanks goes to Brian Magor for his tireless work in organising and co-ordinating the Hoylake International Exhibition who's funds helps to secure the future of the club.

Although our official program is now over, we have an in house meeting at Newton Village Hall, Grange Cross Lane, next Friday 12th May at the normal time for any members who wish to turn up to this informal evening.
