As in the previous two years, the evening was given over to a photographic challenge. Members had to take just 5 JPG images, in the local Ashton Park, West Kirby, between 7 and 8pm; then rush back to Newton Village Hall where - without any post processing - they were loaded onto the PC and projected in order to be judged.
Eleven members participated in the shoot, providing a wide variety of imagery. Without the benefit of Photoshop or similar, members had to ensure their composition, exposure, focusing and subject dominance were established 'in camera' - quite unusual these days.
Despite the challenges this provided, and with some lovely images - including some "aargh" ones and even one with a staged plastic duck! - choosing the winner was difficult, with 5 top scoring images ultimately competing in a second round of judging. For the second time in 3 years, John Gardner's image was the winner; with Barry Quatermass (our outgoing President) presenting him with a medal.
